As a System Engineer, you will spearhead the construction and implementation of FNZ CM Linux and Database environments within the AWS ecosystem. Your primary responsibility will involve providing adept support and continuous maintenance for FNZ CM client applications operating within the AWS environment.
Your role extends to the meticulous management of in-house servers, specifically focusing on Redhat deployments. Additionally, you will take charge of overseeing and maintaining various supported databases crucial to our operations.
Collaboration will be a cornerstone of your role as you engage with Project Managers, outlining and estimating activities essential for environment builds. Your expertise will ensure accurate project planning and execution in alignment with our objectives, contributing significantly to the seamless functioning and expansion of our infrastructure within AWS.
The responsibilities will include:
To build and deploy FNZ CM Linux & Database environments in an AWS environment.
To support and maintain FNZ CM client applications running in an AWS environment.
To manage in-house servers with Redhat deployments
To manage supported databases
To work with PM's and outline activities and estimates for environment builds.
Showcase a solid grasp of Linux variants, particularly RHEL / OEL, with demonstrated competence in administration.
Exhibit a satisfactory level of understanding and proficiency in administering one of the specified Database variants (Progress, PostgreSQL).
Display expertise in scripting languages, along with a solid understanding and proficiency in at least two languages (Shell, Python, and Perl).
Demonstrate adeptness in the administration of AWS resources, showcasing a strong level of understanding and competency.
Illustrate a foundational understanding in Java/JBoss administration, showcasing a basic level of proficiency.
Be able to create, comment on and review hardware configurations for any servers being purchased.
Consistently work to improve your knowledge and competency in the technical skills used by the team.
Manage your time effectively to complete assigned project work within the agreed timeframes. Where timeframes will not be met, provide prompt notice to the manager of the project or direct report.
Be able to provide input into the high-level designs and planning of projects, including suggesting alternate ways of implementing the project.
What are we ideally looking for in a successful candidate?
Tertiary qualifications in IT or Engineering OR comparable industry certification.
Good knowledge of Redhat systems administration, as well as Postgres / Aurora or Progress DBA.
Reasonable networking knowledge and experience.
Demonstratable scripting experience i.e Shell, Python and Perl.
Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively as required.
Able to work in a team environment and mentor other administrators / SE's.
Able to work A/H, shifts & on call according to rostering (attractive allowances offered).
AWS experience are high desirable.
Able to take on leadership roles and assist/mentor other team members.
