The purpose of the Tackling Indigenous Smoking (TIS) Worker role is to improve the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by reducing the prevalence of tobacco use through population health promotion activities.
This position will work to coordinate, plan and deliver the TIS activity plan in accordance with funding guidelines and develop, implement, and evaluate smoking cessation programs and campaigns tailored to the cultural and social needs of different population groups.
You will support and implement smoke and vape free policies in public spaces and workplaces and improve access to targeted support to quit through clinical and non-clinical services.
You will also liaise with the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) Statewide TIS coordinator and participate in statewide meetings.

Winda-Mara Aboriginal Corporation (WMAC) is a community-controlled organisation located in South-West Victoria with offices in Heywood and Hamilton.
WMAC provides a range of services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their families across Heywood, Hamilton, Portland, and surrounding areas over a number of programs including Land Management, Family Services, Medical Clinic and Allied Health, Health Promotion and Prevention, Community Wellbeing, Culture and Tourism, Governance and Administration and Kinship Care and Support.

The ideal applicant will have:
- Certificate III or higher in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care or equivalent qualification, or willingness to obtain.
- Demonstrated knowledge of local Aboriginal community.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate with and relate to people with different cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to deal tactfully and discretely with confidential information.
