St Mary’s Cathedral College is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable TAS Assistant to support the high performing TAS faculty. This position is essential to the activities of the TAS department, ensuring the successful and consistent organisation, implementation and monitoring of the TAS educational resources and operations at the College. This position is offered on a part-time (2 days per week) ongoing basis, commencing Term 2 2024 (29 April 2024 or by negotiation).
Reporting to the Instructional Leader of TAS (Yrs 7-12), this role requires the successful candidate to perform the complete range of administration/support functions within the TAS department, whilst also contributing to the practical elements of the TAS curriculum.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for TAS and strong subject knowledge, with high levels of attention to detail and organisation skills. They will embrace a collaborative approach, working closely with the TAS team to deliver innovative, creative and safe learning experiences in the pursuit of academic excellence.
About you:
To be considered for this position, the successful candidate will need to:
- Prepare materials and equipment for practical lessons, demonstrations, and units of work.
- Maintain the TAS classrooms, preparation areas, and equipment to ensure they are well-organised, clean, and safe.

- Oversee the routine maintenance and cleaning of the TAS rooms
- Ensure that Safety Data Sheets and the Hazardous Substance register remain current and relevant.
- Conduct regular inspections of tools and equipment while monitoring Work Health and Safety requirements in the TAS department, promptly notifying staff of any concerns or changes.
- Manage the storage, organisation, and maintenance of materials and chemicals in accordance with WHS and school requirements.
- Perform regular inventory checks of equipment and supplies.
- Oversee the sourcing, online purchasing process, ordering, and receiving to maintain stock levels, and assist in the storing of materials, tools, and equipment
- Collaborate with TAS teachers to create prototypes and samples for new project concepts as required.
- Manage the coordination of special events linked to the TAS department
- Assist in coordinating TAS displays across the school
- Inspect and maintain personal protective equipment
