About John Holland

At John Holland, our purpose is simple - we transform lives with everything we do.

We've always known that infrastructure is about people — our customers, our employees, and the communities in which we work every day.

That's our difference. Deep experience and capability with a genuine care about creating better lives for people along the way.

Be part of the team that's up for the challenge of transforming lives for good.

About John Holland's Training Academy

John Holland's newly established Training Academy provides our business with vocational and industry specific training expertise, leveraging external and internal partnerships to build the skills our people need to be job ready for today, and the future.

Are you up for the challenge?

We have a unique opportunity for a Training Academy Services Manager. This position can be based out of Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane.

You will be responsible for managing the operations of the Training Services team, with a strong emphasis on customer service. The role will have a strong focus on ensuring the team is effectively resourced and delivering high-quality, fit-for-purpose, scalable, and cost-efficient training services to John Holland and projects.

About the Role

  • Collaborate with the Training Academy Manager, and other relevant stakeholders, to determine the current and future resource needs based on the fluctuating supply and demand requirements for training services.
  • Efficiently allocate human resources to meet the varying demands of training services.
  • Continuously monitor and keep abreast of pipeline training service requirements by engaging in regular communication with the Training Academy Manager and key stakeholders across the business. Use this information to make informed decisions regarding resource allocation and capacity planning.
  • Actively seek opportunities to enhance operational efficiencies, effectiveness, and process enhancements within the Training Services team. Encourage a culture of continuous improvement by promoting feedback, gathering suggestions from team members, and leveraging their expertise to identify areas for improvement.
  • Regularly review and update training processes and procedures to ensure they are aligned with John Holland standards and regulatory requirements. Identify areas for optimisation and implement improvements to enhance the quality, efficiency, and consistency of training services delivery.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure and monitor the operational performance of the Training Services team. In collaboration with the People Data Analytics team, develop reporting mechanisms and analytics to track metrics such as resource utilisation, cost recovery based on services provided, training services turnaround time, service quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate closely with customers and internal and external partner to ensure alignment between training services and project requirements.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in training, providing expert advice and contribute to training services as required.
  • Take ownership of maintaining and updating the John Holland Group & Project Based Mandatory Training Matrices, ensuring all mandatory training requirements are accurately captured and up to date.
  • Actively contribute to enhancing the effectiveness of the Success Factors Learning Management System (LMS) and the Project Based Competency Systems, aiming to improve end-user experience, streamline training processes, and maximise the value these systems bring to the organisation.
  • Foster the professional growth and enhance the performance of team members through coaching and mentoring, cultivating a positive and collaborative team culture.

About You

This role will typically see you holding a Certificate IV TAE or higher Vocational Training qualification and having previous experience in a leadership role within a training function, specifically in the construction industry.

You will have demonstrated skills and / or knowledge in:

  • Determining and allocating resources based on supply and demand requirements.
  • Process improvement methodologies, and the ability to promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
  • Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and the ability to develop reporting mechanisms and to measure and monitor operational performance.
  • The Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) and standards applicable to Registered Training Organisations (RTO).
