Due to expansion in their head office in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne within their finance team, they require an experienced Tax Manager to look after all the tax obligations for their business units and property trusts.
About the role
As the Internal Tax Manager, you are ultimately responsible for managing all the tax obligations and requirements of the business. Your role is to improve the business’s performance by recommending tax strategies that comply with the relevant legislation.
You will be a key contributor to the financial success of the business, as the Tax Manager you will be critical to ensuring the company is fulfilling all its tax obligations and requirements.
Core responsibilities.
- Managing the direct (BAS & Corporate Income Tax) and all Indirect (such as FBT, Payroll, GST) tax matters for the organisation.
- Liaising with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), auditors and regulatory bodies as required
- Management and administration of ATO portal
- Load and lodge franking returns annually and FBT reports for all property trusts
- Ensuring the company’s executive team is aware of tax exposure and impact from asset disposals/structural business changes etc.
- Recommending tax strategies that align with business goals.
- Approval and lodgement of tax returns
- Providing tax advice to senior managers on all taxation matters
- Recommending improvements to tax-related systems and identifying areas to reduce tax exposure.
- Understanding legislative taxation changes and forecasting tax liabilities
Skills and attributes
- 5 plus years’ experience as a Tax Accountant or Tax Manager
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance.
- Professional qualifications such as CA or CPA
- Professional interpersonal and relationship skills including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask.
- High level of attention to detail
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking
- Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and accounting & ATO tax packages.
