Tax Accountant required for 4 partner, 15 person tax practice at the city end of Fitzroy.
We specialise in the film, music, gaming and sports industries and require a ready to work Tax Accountant with at least three years experience who wants a change from their current firm.
You will be fully supported by the partners in a tax and a business services role. We are happy to continue with your CA or CPA training as part of the package (we will pay for this). We pay for your annual CA or CPA fees and provide monthly training to maintain your registration and improve your skills.
Our firm has a team approach, we don't wear suits, we don't do overtime, your hours will be reasonably flexible and we have a very interesting client base. The role will involve lots of direct client contact and you will be managing your client base with the support of the team. We want someone who is engaged with their work, cares about what they do and likes their clients. We have a flat structure so want someone who will buy into this culture and be prepared to work hard and have fun.
We do annual performance and salary review and pay a bonus at least once a year. Our firm has an inclusive culture and we genuinely try and look after each other and have an active social calendar (includes sporting and horror movie nights which are optional).
Reporting to:
This role reports directly to the Partners.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
● Preparing income tax returns for individuals.
● Compiling financial reports and income tax returns for sole traders, partnerships, trusts, and companies.
● Generating reconciliations and maintaining digital quality working papers.
● Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all supporting documentation for tax filings.
● Providing advice on and preparing capital gains tax schedules for the disposal of shares, real properties, cryptocurrency, collectibles, and personal use assets.
● Calculating fringe benefits and preparing fringe benefit tax returns.
● Offering tax planning services to clients.
● Collaborating with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and clients.
● Ensuring timely completion of jobs for review.
● Reconciling data and preparing Business Activity Statements.
● Ensuring Instalment Activity Statements are lodged on time.
● Staying current on changes in tax laws and regulations to keep clients informed and compliant.
● Collaborating with external advisors on tax matters.
● Attending and participating in monthly internal training to knowledge of the regulations and laws.
● Assisting with and attending to clients’ meetings.
