The Indirect Tax Expert is critical to making this happen and is responsible for the overall support for Australian Indirect Tax (i.e. GST and payroll tax) functions and activities. In particular, the role exists to provide:
Strong support on the Indirect Tax compliance requirements for ANZ entities including, accurate and timely preparation and lodgement of ANZ’s Business Activity Statements and Payroll Tax returns
Assist with understanding and driving process improvement with Indirect Tax compliance and assist in maintaining and ensuring compliance with the Indirect Tax Compliance and Governance frameworks. for ANZ entities.
Provision of Indirect support and analysis across the ANZ entities including, advice on the application of GST on services, products, and transactions undertaken or contemplated by ANZ entities.
The role is also responsible for supporting the provision of accurate and timely financial information and taxation data reporting to a range of internal and external stakeholders, particularly the Australian Taxation Office and State Revenue Offices. In addition, this role requires close collaboration with our Tax Centre of Excellence colleagues in India.

What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in the role, you will ideally bring the following:
Strong Indirect Tax and accounting skills ideally demonstrated in a corporate environment and/or top tier accounting firm.
Extensive professional experience in Indirect Tax technical and compliance and related financial/tax systems.
Strong excel and data analytical skills and an eye for detail and working knowledge of dealing with large amounts of data.
Proven ability to work in a team and develop strong working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
An ability to work independently with a willingness to learn and adapt to change
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
An interest in process change and the use of technology to achieve better outcomes
Demonstrated track record of working to deadlines and being efficient and organised in all operations
