aleksandar. have been appointed to manage a recruitment process on behalf of a leading financial services institution to identify a Tax Manager in Sydney, Australia. This is an excellent opportunity to join a market leader in a critical project role.

The Tax Manager will be responsible for a range of taxation responsibilities across corporate and international tax. The role will also involve assisting with timely and effective tax advice to high growth business units across the group.

Your success in this role will hinge on the strength of your technical experience in corporate tax. You will have a strong knowledge and understanding of taxation risk and regulatory requirements (cultivated at a big4 accounting firm and/or mid-tier accounting firm) and also best practice for a financial services institution operating in a global market.

In return, this position will provide you with excellent in-house tax technical experience for a large global group.

Our mandate is to attract and select a high-calibre individual from a top-tier investment manager who can manage the following key responsibilities;

Effectively communicate changes of law to business units and other divisions internally that could impact current or future investments for the group.

Provide direct support to investment leaders to ensure tax risks and opportunities are well understood and, if necessary, get involved to resolve service issues with advisors.

Maintain relationships and monitor performance to ensure advisors deliver exceptional service and value expectations.

Provide technical review and tax clearance of transactions and arrangements entered into by the company globally.

Calculate and communicate periodic transfer pricing adjustments to ensure financial results of foreign affiliates are consistent with inter-company agreements and global transfer pricing policies.

Collaborate with tax colleagues and other departments to ensure the on-going tax management of investments meet global standards. Identify areas for improvement and recommend logical solutions that comply with the board tax mandate.

Collaborate with the Head of Tax to ensure the on-going tax management of business operations meet group standards.

Maintain high standards of effective oral and written communication to internal stakeholders to ensure ease of understanding and relevance to the business.

Suggest changes to internal tax polices/guidelines to ensure they are kept current and relevant given the evolving nature of the business operations across Australia.

Actively contribute to the Tax group’s knowledge database and share ideas and options.

Assist in various special projects and initiatives.

Develop, maintain and manage relationships with key individuals across Finance, Operations, Legal, Public Affairs and Communications and other core divisions.

Experience required to champion this position:
A minimum of 9 years corporate tax experience, with significant international tax expertise within financial services markets.

Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, law degree or comparable professional credentials.

Experience in financial products is highly desirable.

Demonstrated writing skills, strong analytical skills, creativity in written presentation materials and strong oral presentation skills.

Demonstrated ability to think broadly about tax information, think through problems, assess a variety of factors and recommend solutions.

Ability to adapt one’s communication style based on the audience and proven skills in synthesising complex technical concepts into plain language for non-specialist audiences.

Strong project management skills with the ability to efficiently manage multiple assignments.

Excellent attention to detail and consistent high levels of accuracy.

Strong impact and influencing skills with the ability to influence people with personal style and finesse rather than authority.

A consistent learner who stays on top of business trends and tax technical changes.

Flexible and able to work with light supervision and adaptable to change.
