The role holder has a focus on WPB customer Tax Reporting, particularly on Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and Common Reporting Standard (CRS) and is to assist management with managing and mitigating customer Tax Reporting risks in their day-to-day operations.
The role holder should ensure they understand their position within the Three Lines of Defence, and act accordingly in line with operational risk policy and by taking account of emerging economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices and the impact of new technology.
There are no direct or indirect reporting lines for this role.
The primary responsibilities of the role include:

• Assisting with the preparation and management of the annual WPB Client Tax Reporting requirements.
• Providing guidance and support to WPB teams in all aspects of customer Tax Reporting risk, particularly FATCA and CRS.
• Identifying and escalating gaps in business knowledge and understanding of WPB Tax Reporting risk.
• Attending project working groups, collating intelligence discussed, and sharing that intelligence with management
• Reviewing, identifying, and escalating control, process & procedure gaps and ensuring that gaps are raised for assessment and remediation.
• Contributing towards an effective customer first culture without compromising adherence to internal controls and compliance.
• Assisting management in strengthening tax compliance culture, completing periodical attestations and production of regular reporting to risk forums.
• Developing new and nurturing existing relationships with key stakeholders to influence and foster risk-aware culture.

Requirements
To be successful the candidate will need:

• Well versed in FATCA, CRS Compliance and the Tax regulatory landscape impacting the Australian Retail Banking Industry.
• Highly developed communication skills able to build relationships with key internal stakeholders.
• Proven history of successfully identifying business risk and assisting in remedial procedures.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing deadlines, without compromising attention to detail.
• Advanced problem solving skills with ability to consider alternative and lateral solutions.
• Understanding of complex concepts and ability to adapt to change.
• Exposure and/or understanding of Wealth Management, Digital, Branch, Contact Centre, Insurance, Customer Propositions, Mortgages and Cards operational controls & processes would be an advantage.

Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
