Brisbane South State Secondary College is currently seeking exceptional and innovative Teacher Aides. As a Teacher Aide, you will play a key role in providing in class support to students and teachers to create safe and supportive learning environments and positive outcomes for all students. The successful candidate will have excellent relational skills with experience in supporting students with diverse needs and will be committed to promoting our school values: Commitment, Inclusivity, Respect, Integrity. This is a permanent part-time position available for 60 Hours per fortnight (0.79 FTE). Responsibilities include:
General expectations

- Maintaining confidentiality, reliability and sensitivity when discussing student matters with staff.
- Communicating effectively and displaying high level of interpersonal skills to function as an effective team member.
- Providing playground and bus supervision.
Working with students
- Assisting in the supervision of teaching and learning experiences under the direction of a teacher.
- Actively engaging in getting to know our students, their interests, strengths and goals.
- Displaying empathy and respect to all students and their families.
- Using our “Scaffolding Framework for Teacher Aides” and other strategies to promote student engagement, interest and participation in social and academic experiences.
Collaborating with teachers
- Collaborating intentionally with teachers to assist with the personalised learning and success of every student.
- Communicating and maintaining information on student progress and wellbeing to teachers and leadership team.
Allocated Departmental duties
- Contributing to the college inclusive culture.
- Assisting with the management and stocktaking of equipment and resources.
- Administering and collating diagnostic assessments, including NAPLAN.
- Clerical duties such as: administering of permission slips, scanning and filing of student documents, development and refinement of supporting documents and resources, preparation of resources, or any other ad hoc administrative duties as directed by your line manager.
- Ongoing collaboration with allocated Heads of Department.
Please note that due to the collaboration with the University of Queensland you may be required to travel between the school campus and UQ St Lucia campus for timetabled lessons and/or activities. Parking is limited on site and you may be required to use public transport or active travel to/from the school.
