This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2024

Baldivis Secondary College (SC) is seeking a passionate and innovative Teacher – Arts to join our dynamic Arts team.

Our dedication to enhancing student outcomes is rooted in the comprehensive integration of Advancement Via Individual Determination's (AVID) tried-and-true teaching methods and best practices across all academic disciplines at our college. Our instructional staff incorporate AVID strategies, along with other effective teaching techniques and 21st-century tools, to foster both post-school preparedness and enhanced academic achievements for all students.

As the successful applicant you should have an excellent understanding of the Years 7 to 10 Western Australian Arts Curriculum and Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) courses in a variety of arts contexts. 

The successful applicant should be dedicated to planning and delivering high quality teaching programs that promote student engagement and achievement in the Arts area. You will ideally have contemporary arts knowledge and be able to work across a range of contexts.

Flexibility and a commitment to personal and professional growth, high standards of professionalism and a willingness to embrace opportunities for collaboration within the college community and neighbouring schools will be well regarded.

We are seeking a teacher who is student and relationship focused, enthusiastic and innovative with the capacity to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful experiences while catering for diverse student learning needs.

The successful applicant should have the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and will have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to our school community.

You should be a dedicated, passionate, and highly effective educator who has a deep understanding of and experience with a diverse range of student learning needs and styles and will inspire students to achieve to their potential.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
  • complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
