Appointment Pool

Willetton Senior High School (SHS) are seeking to establish a pool of Teacher - English for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2025 school year.

Suitable applicants will ideally be energetic and dedicated teachers with a practical understanding of the Year 7-10 Western Australian Curriculum: English, as well as Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) courses. The necessary skills and knowledge to teach to the highest level in Year 11 and 12 ATAR English and Literature is highly desirable.

Teachers with experience planning for and teaching Foundation, General and Modified English classes, preparing students for National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) and Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) and knowledge of Special Educational Needs (SEN) reporting will also be highly regarded. Graduates are also encouraged to apply.

Suitable applicants should be relationship-focused educators and display the strong interpersonal skills required to work in a large, collaborative, and supportive team environment. Suitable applicants will be joining a progressive and enthusiastic team of teachers who are engaged in implementing a whole-school approach to education.

The capacity to lead curriculum development and meet the needs of students with a range of abilities is important to the role, as is a sound knowledge of how data analysis can inform teaching practices. ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

• provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit prior to commencement of employment
• obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
• meet the Department of Education Teacher Qualifications and Registration requirements;
• complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
• complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment and every three years thereafter;
• complete the Department’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement; and
• complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
