Key Responsibilities
As a Food Science and Health Education Secondary Teacher, you will:
- Develop and design comprehensive instructional materials, lesson plans and learning activities in alignment with Food Science and Health Education curriculum standards and objectives
- Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that cover topics such as nutrition, food safety, dietary guidelines, food production and the impact of nutrition on health. Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, resources and technologies to enhance student understanding and engagement
- Conduct hands-on experiments, demonstrations to illustrate key concepts in Food Science and Health Education. Provide students with opportunities for practical application and experimental learning
- Educate students about food safety practices, sanitation procedures and foodborne illnesses
Qualifications
- Valid secondary teaching qualification in Food Science, Nutrition, Health Education or a related field
- In-depth knowledge of Food Science principles, nutrition concepts, dietary guidelines and Health Education theories
- Strong interpersonal skills for building positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues and community stake-holders
- A passion for nurturing the intellectual development of students
