At Specialised Assistance School for Youth (SASY) our focus is on providing a safe and supportive learning environment to engage with vulnerable and disengaged students who have complex needs, to reignite their interest in education, through holistic learning practices that focus on wellbeing.
Established in 2016, SASY caters for students in Years 8-12 whose needs are better met by learning structures that may not be available in all mainstream schools. As a non-government school, SASY follows the national curriculum and SACE.
We are a growing independent secondary school with a key focus on trauma informed practices and wellbeing as fundamental principles in working with vulnerable youth.

About the role
We are seeking a teacher who has experience teaching in an alternative learning environment and/or with disadvantaged, disengaged young people.
The ideal candidate is:
- A passionate, flexible, and knowledgeable educator who can draw on their knowledge across different subject areas.
- Experienced working with students who can be reluctant to engage with learning, who is comfortable jumping in and letting the interests of students guide them.
- Is passionate about their learning area but also open to learning and growing their knowledge across SACE subject areas.
- Experienced teaching or willing to learn Modified SACE subjects.
- Committed to approaching SACE in an alternative way with a strong on emphasis on project and hands-on, real-world learning.

All applicants will be required to have current South Australian teacher’s registration, Working with Children check and First Aid.
