Position Information
Henry Kendall High School is a coeducational comprehensive High School with a student enrolment of approximately 840 students including six classes in the Support Unit and 62 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The student population has continued a gradual increase over the past five years. 22% of students have a background where English is an additional language or dialect (EAL/D). Henry Kendall High School enjoys the support of its culturally and linguistically diverse community. We have also fostered strong partnerships with universities, cultural institutions, external providers, businesses and community groups and, highlighted by our P-TECH partnership with IBM International. The school is committed to improving effective classroom practices with staff professional learning essential. In 2023 the new Mathematics K-10 syllabus will be introduced, and students will begin to learn to work mathematically by using communication, understanding and fluency, reasoning and problem-solving processes in an interconnected way. The coordinated development of these processes will result in students becoming mathematically proficient. Formative assessment practices are a key aspect of this and are fundamental to ensuring personalised processes are maintained across the school. Selection Criteria
Approval to Science 7-10, Biology, Chemistry and Earth and Environmental Science
Demonstrated ability to implement evidence-based teaching practices that foster a culture of high expectations and student growth
Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative member of the Science faculty that contributes to new syllabus programming, assessment task and resource development
Demonstrated capacity to differentiate teaching to meet the specific needs of students across the full range of abilities, including students with disabilities in a mainstream setting.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
