Engineering Team Lead | Team Lead | RoR/AWS/Typescript
ScaleUp is proud to be partnering with an Australian tech company focusing on coming up with solutions for the employment industry. Together we are seeking a talented lead engineer/Team Lead who specializes in bringing the best out of people and comes from a strong technical background, preferably in Ruby on Rails.
If successful you will lead a team of talented individuals driving technical excellence and innovation while ensuring project success and alignment with business objectives. The role is a Hybrid opportunity that can be based in either Sydney or Melbourne.
As aTeam Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in both guiding technical decisions and fostering a collaborative team environment. This role will be a mixture of management and hands-on technically. This means you will have the opportunity and responsibility to be involved in executing the designs you come up with.
You previously may have held titles such as staff engineer, Team Lead, tech lead etc. Experince leading and mentoring others is a must.
Nitty Gritty:

• The role is predominantly leading a team of talented engineers and working with Rails to build out complex web apps & API's
• It's a team that has high technical coding standards and expects its leaders to adhere to great practices around system design, coding standards, testing & CI/CD. By doing so you will unselfishly inspire others to do the same.
• The role is a mix of advising on technical excellence, coding standards, people management and leadership, being of service to get the best out of your engineers
• There are multiple roles on offer, depending on your team size the mix of hands-on/people leadership may vary, anything from 40% hands-on > 20% hands-on
• You will be contributing to building a culture where technology is not merely executing the business ideas but also feeds back into all aspects of the business.
• You'll be naturally curious and enjoy learning new things and solving problems. The industry is a pretty exciting one that offers unique challenges that have not yet been solved.
• You'll do all of this and also keep the end user in mind
• Hybrid opportunity where you can spend a couple of days a week in either the Sydney or Melbourne office

What's needed?

• Extensive experince of professional programming experience & commercialRuby on Rails (Or TypeScript/Node.js) the tech stack is RoR, Node.js, Typescript, GraphQL, React, PostgreSQL, AWS
• Experince leading a team of developers, directing technical strategies that support our business goals, mentoring and supporting others and desire to improve team health.
• Architect and implement scalable, efficient technical solutions that contribute directly to business success.
• Experience working in Agile environments
• Collaborate across departments to define project requirements and deliver software solutions that meet business needs.
• Strong communication skills and demonstrated patience with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, able to articulate ideas/goals and expectations.
• Ability to analyse complex challenges from business perspectives and lead into technical design.
• Cultivate a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the team.

• This is a permanent full time role paying up to $180,000 + super + performance bonus
