  • Permanent full-time position available NOW!
  • Manage a small, dedicated team
  • $70,680.76- $83,929.91 + 11% Super + RDO + 3.5%  Award increase from 9 July 2024.

Your Position:

Burwood Council is looking for a passionate and experienced Team Leader to manager a small team of general laborer's and contractors as well as supervise the construction and maintenance of council assets. You will be responsible for a variety of duties including concrete and road maintenance, general laboring and cleaning as well as parks and garden maintenance works.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Supervision of staff within team as well as other teams when required
  • Control the operation of maintenance jobs as directed
  • Maintain Council’s roads, footpaths, kerbs and gutters and drains
  • Maintain Council’s buildings and amenities which includes graffiti removal
  • Maintain Council’s car parks, traffic devices and parks when required
  • Assess customer issues that can be dealt with immediately and notify the customer of the course of action
  • Train staff in the correct method of performing duties such as labouring, pipe laying concrete, hot mix laying, drain cleaning, mowing.
  • Making sure that works are adhered to all WHS legislations
  • Coordinate with Traffic and Community Safety Teams with repairs/removals/installations of any signs in accordance with regulations
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and compliance with regulations.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in civil works in areas such as concreting, drainage, general maintenance etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate and supervise the work activities of an outdoor team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to peers, direct reports, external customers and supervisors
  • An ability to operate minor plant and equipment
  • An understanding of the principles of EEO, WH&S and cultural diversity and how they are applied in the workplace
  • Relevant TAFE Certificate or equivalent (civil works)
  • Traffic Controllers Certificate and Implement Traffic Control
  • Plans OR preparedness to obtain these qualifications

Key Requirements:

  • WHS Introduction to Construction Certificate (White Card)
  • MR Licence
  • COVID 19 vaccination for all employees (2 Vaccines)
  • Willingness to complete a pre-employment health assessment
