About the Role
As the Team Leader Disability Advocacy, you will lead and supervise a dedicated team of Disability Advocates across Queensland. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the provision of comprehensive advocacy services to ADA Australia clients, with a particular focus on people with disability, their families, or unpaid carers. You will work closely with the Manager, Advocacy Services, and maintain collaborative relationships with the Executive Management Team and all other staff members.
Key Duties
- Supervise and support Disability Advocates in providing advocacy services to individuals with disability and their families.
- Support the Manager Advocacy Services in leading team meetings, providing complex case management, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
- Set performance expectations, monitor key performance indicators, and provide regular feedback to team members.
- Coordinate training and development initiatives for team members.
- Lead recruitment, selection, and induction processes for new Disability Advocates.
- Manage a caseload and provide direct advocacy support to individuals with disability.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Provide targeted support and referrals to ADA clients.
- Analyse data to inform service performance and innovation.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and quality standards.
- Promote workplace health and safety and contribute to continuous improvement of policies and procedures.
About You
- Relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent combination of relevant experience, education, and/or training.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills with the ability to develop, mentor, and supervise staff to foster a cohesive team.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges and roadblocks, fostering a solutions-oriented approach that contributes to the overall success of the team.
- An understanding of and experience in providing disability support/advocacy and supporting vulnerable people with disability within complex settings or situations.
- High-level written and oral communication skills; can communicate complex information clearly and simply.
- Sound knowledge of disability support programs, systems, and sector, including the NDIS, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and apply legislation, policies, and procedures.

Essential Requirements
- Valid Australian Driver’s license
- Current (less than three (3) years old) pre-employment National Criminal History Certificate
- Valid NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Valid Working with Children/Blue Card.
