From our offices in Brisbane and a network of regional offices and manufacturing hubs, more than 700 DRDMW staff work to create a Queensland where communities, businesses and water resources are sustainable and resilient.The RoleThis opportunity is in the First Nations Engagement team managed from the Water Monitoring and Compliance, North Region group. You will work collaboratively across the state on policies and approaches. You will undertake a lead role in developing relationships with First Nations peoples across Queensland improving the ability for the department to effectively engage with First Nations peoples to ensure that their interests are included in water planning and management activities. Key to the role is building strong relationships with First Nations peoples and other water user representatives, community groups, as well as across the department, state agencies and with other jurisdictions.Key Accountabilities:
- Undertake research and analysis to support development of policy and strategy to inform best practice stewardship of the state's finite resources.
- Provide quality written contributions to support the preparation of complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, legislation, presentations, speeches, publications, and correspondence.
- Prepare timely, and authoritative advice on a range of strategic policy and regulatory issues and identify mechanisms for improvement to optimise sustainable outcomes.
- Lead and support the implementation of communication strategies by preparing communication aids including information sheets, PowerPoint presentations and other material as required.
- Lead the development and maintenance of effective partnerships - working collaboratively with colleagues and with other levels of government, industry, and non-government organisations to negotiate and achieve policy outcomes and deliver on government commitments.
- Lead, mentor, coach and train staff in their development to ensure the necessary skills and motivation exist to respond to service delivery requirements and perform to a high level of skill and expertise.
