About the opportunity
Join our Active, Connected and Future Communities business unit as a Team LeaderParks Planning, where you will drive the development and management of open spaces to enhance community health and wellbeing. This role offers the chance to shape vibrant, accessible, and sustainable parks for current and future residents.
You will make an impact by
- Leading, coaching, and mentoring the Parks Planning team.
- Leading the development and implementation of open space policies, strategies, and master plans.
- Providing expert advice on open space requirements in Precinct Structure Plans and Township Strategies.
- Advocating for improved open space outcomes, including Identifying and securing funding opportunities for open space projects through grants and subsidies.
- Managing community engagement processes to ensure the needs and desires of community members and stakeholders are understood.
- Overseeing the planning and delivery of capital works projects related to open spaces.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders to maximize the use and enjoyment of community parks and facilities.
- Preparing comprehensive reports and recommendations for Council consideration.
What you will bring
- A tertiary qualification in park management, urban design, landscape architecture, urban planning, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in reserve planning, landscape development, and project management, preferably in a local government setting.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to develop and mentor staff.
- Advanced skills in community engagement and stakeholder management.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to prepare and present reports.
- Proficiency in budget management and financial procedures.
