About the role
Leading a team of five payroll staff and coordinating a weekly payroll of 2,000 employees, this role will provide leadership, expert advice and guidance across the organisation. The role will also:
- Ensure all decisions and recommendations reflect the application of relevant agreements, awards, and legislations.
- Have a key focus of process improvement and ability to work collaboratively with Information Technology Services and key stakeholders with the maintenance and upgrade of payroll and time sheeting systems.
- Monitor and reconcile payroll transactions to established guidelines and standards to maintain accuracy and integrity of data.
- Report and analyse payroll, related HR and financial data to management and other key stakeholders, as required.
- Provide compliance reporting of Single Touch payroll data in line with legislation requirements.
About you
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Diploma of Payroll Management or Certificate IV in Payroll Administration plus equivalent competencies.
- Demonstrated extensive payroll experience in a similar role within a large multi-disciplined organisation.
- Advanced understanding and working knowledge of Payroll systems and relevant business systems (council currently uses CHRIS21 and UKG).
- Expert knowledge of relevant industrial awards, agreements and legislations applicable to payroll.
- Demonstrated advanced conceptual, analytical and problem solving abilities in relation to complex payroll issues.
- Proven ability to set priorities, monitor workflows, support and mentor Payroll staff and contribute to ongoing individual and team development.
- Experienced in undertaking complex projects with the ability to plan and monitor set outcomes – system implementation experience highly desirable.
- Well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and the ability to drive outcomes whilst communicating effectively with a wide and varied workforce.
