This is a permanent, full-time, Monday to Friday 6.30 am to 3.30 pm position working 38 hours per week. This position is located at the Bomaderry Works Depot
The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.
DutiesReporting directly to the Unit Manager – Mechanical and Fleet Services, the focus of this position is to:
- Supervise a team responsible for providing multi skilled technical knowledge and expertise to maintain, repair, design and construct Council’s assets including steel water mains, steel and aluminum on water and sewerage installations, truck bodies, playground equipment, parks and street equipment in accordance with customer’s service level requirements and appropriate safety and quality standards.
- Prepare designs and quotes for fabrication services to Council,
- Ensure processes and protocols are in place for the Welders Team’s compliance with all relevant legislation and Council policies and ensure that risks are managed.
On call – Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:
- Dual trade qualification or trade plus post trade qualifications in related field or relevant experience.
- Current NSW WorkCover: Construction Induction Certificate, non-slewing yard crane operator’s certificate, and First Aid Certificate.
- Forklift licence.
- Minimum 8 years post trade experience.
- Experience within a workshop environment dealing with a wide variety of projects
- Supervisory experience.
- Class HR/MR Driver’s Licence
