What You Will Do
Reporting to the Port Manager - Brisbane, your key responsibilities in this position will include:
Laise closely with the Operations Superintendent and Technical Superintendent and co-ordinate day to day maintenance and Operations
General day to day technical administration ensuring compliance and consistency in accordance with statutory obligations
Assist the Technical Superintendent with preparation, planning and running of technical projects; including drydocking, vessel major maintenance and retrofits
Report all mechanical problems and defects in consultation the Technical Superintendent
Participate in tug vessels operational improvement exercises
Ensure all safety equipment is maintained, repaired or replaced and engage with contractors as necessary for the provision of maintenance and repairs to tug, shore facilities or otherwise as required
Monitor, procure and receive stores and equipment through appropriate Svitzer systems, as well as warehouse receival and delivery and yard co-ordination
Be reasonably able to travel to meet business requirements.
Other ad-hoc duties as required by management
What You Will Need To Succeed
To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate:
Mechanical trades knowledge and/or previous experience in a mechanical trades position
Proven computer literate with competency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Valid Forklift ticket
Current Drivers Licence
Proficiency in using vessel planned maintenance software is highly regarded
Previous experience in the maritime industry or vessel repairs/ building yard is highly desirable
Mechanical or Marine Engineering, or tertiary qualifications in similar field would be advantageous.
An understanding of classification societies and statutory bodies with any matters relating to vessel certification/documentation compliance and variations of these
