The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. About the role
We are looking for an exceptional Technical Business Analyst, with excellent technical and analytical skills to join DGS's Operations branch. Operations is responsible for implementing digital solutions and driving continuous improvement activities across DGS.
This role is responsible for architecture, integration, data, and solution process mapping, involved in technical and solution design, documenting technical and functional requirements. Liaising and collaborating with the Operational Business Technology team and business stakeholders across other branches within DGS. This role will be instrumental in helping shape digital delivery and assurance across Operations and DGS. The successful candidate will have experience in digital and IT delivery within government or similarly complex corporate enterprise.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Drive technical analysis activities for capturing, documenting (inclusive of process modelling and mapping), and communicating technical requirements, to assist with the design, solution, development, and configuration of applications and systems for the development and implementation of digital operating improvements across the department.
- Negotiate with stakeholders, peers, industry partners, and other government agencies with the objective of gaining co-operation, influencing views, to clarify and determine technical and functional needs and objectives, as part of the gathering of information and data for design, solution, and options recommendations.
- Provide advice to stakeholders in relation to functional, technical requirements, design, and solution implications and/or limitations.
About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
- Proven experience in complex digital and IT project solutioning and implementation, utilizing Agile, PRINCE2, and hybrid methodologies, along with expertise in modern tools for digital delivery. Proficient in Microsoft 365 product applications such as SharePoint Online, MS Teams, SWA, Exchange, Azure DevOps, and Power Platform.
- Well-developed influence and negotiation skills, with the ability to use direct and indirect influencing strategies to gain agreement to proposals and ideas. Explores alternatives to gain agreement without foregoing key objectives.
- Sound conceptual and analytical skills. Strong initiative and a ‘can do' approach to identify issues and develop appropriate solutions to solve business problems, as well as align and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of technical solutions.
