The Role
SEA5000 HCF Branch is seeking a committed and confident person to undertake the EL 1 Technical Data Manager role within the Configuration Management Team. As the Technical Data manager, your focus will be on organizing, storing, and sharing Technical Data within the Hunter Class Frigate Project while handling Technical Data in accordance with security, exports and ITAR restrictions within the Defence approved records management systems.
International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) is the United States regulation that controls the manufacture, sale and distribution of defence and space-related articles and services. The ITAR contains a list of “restricted” countries that are unable to access ITAR controlled information, and therefore we will need to know if an applicant holds dual citizenship to one of the restricted countries to ensure they meet the requirement to perform the role (and we do not breach any ITAR requirements).
They will be responsible for planning and leading Technical Data activities, working within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with Defence’s mission and business objectives. They will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of Technical Data. They will work with independence and set work tasks that align with strategic objectives and communicate expected outcomes.
About our Team
Hunter Class Frigate works with experts from the UK, the USA, Canada and Europe to solve highly complex challenges in construction at the newly designed Osborne Naval Shipyard, utilising the latest production technologies, including robotic welding. The design and acquisition strategy currently employed by the HCF Project is new to the Department of Defence and progresses upon the traditional systems engineering approach to design, acquisition and project management.

You will have knowledge or experience in the integration and delivery of complex technical work.
Key attributes and experience we are looking for:
• Have a well-developed understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements to support Defence materiel capability life cycle.
• May be tertiary qualified through recognised degree qualifications or relevant vocational training
• Must be capable of reviewing, assuring and developing the quality of work undertaken by others
• Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, sound technical verbal and written communication abilities and
• Be accountable for achieving ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
