About the Role
With Australia demonstrating strong revenue growth, they have created a key role - Technical Manager to support the Global Technical and Quality team, with overseeing a new production capability - identifying and implementing new product development, packaging, and product solutions, and commissioning new production lines. Based in Sydney, with the executive team there will be regular travel to Victoria and this role reports through to the Head of Technical in the UK.
Key Responsibilities and Experience
As a proactive technical expert, you will be managing all quality and technical workstreams and budgets, working closely with cross functional teams, and delivering on NPD projects and innovation.
Key tasks will be:
• Responsible for being the technical lead on the commissioning of new production lines and flawless delivery of innovation and existing product development projects as well as product (liquid and packaging) and process improvement initiatives.
• Actively managing technical risk by proactively identifying risks, developing mitigation plans, and implementing corrective action when necessary.
• Designing and developing testing plans tailored to the project requirements and meeting business deliverables.
• Driving and supporting food safety, product quality and supplier quality management across new manufacturing sites and suppliers.
• Ensuring a quality assurance culture throughout suppliers and co-manufacturers.
• Identifying, leading, and facilitating product quality initiatives across manufacturing sites.
• Auditing the food safety and quality processes of manufacturing sites and suppliers.
To be successful in this role:
• Technical knowledge of product development, packaging development and trialling/commissioning with a high level of accuracy.
• Track record of delivery of new product technical development from concept to commercialisation driving a collaborative culture working with cross functional teams.
• Degree in Food Science and/or Engineering, and at least 7 years + experience in FMCG and/or food/drink manufacturing (in project management, technical and/or quality).
• The ability to influence, negotiate and be deadline focused. Have the ability to be both strategic and tactical, always keen to roll up the sleeves, and display that sense of urgency.
• Knowledge of BRC/IFS/SQF, auditing, HACCP, food safety, quality systems, allergen management and compliance.
• Technical knowledge of quality systems/processes legislation.
