About the role
In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining of a portfolio of city owned building assets. The role will ensure that the buildings remain compliant and maintained in accordance with expectations as set out by relevant legislations, service manager and asset owner.
Work type: Permanent full time
Classification: Band 7 ($100,064-$110,990 pa plus super)
Key responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe workplace for contractors working on council assets at your direction.
  • Manage councils building assets, ensuring the buildings are fit for purpose.
  • Respond to requests, determine responsibility for works, estimate costs and specify the work required.
  • Implement works required including obtaining quotes, assessing tenders, raising work orders, managing site access, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards, supervising works and seeking authorization of payments.
  • Responsible for the creation of a program of planned works for each year, with a clear long-term plan in place for each facility.
  • Responsible for management of the Essential Safety Measures and preparation of annual report within the building portfolio.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a Degree qualification and/or Trade qualification with several years' experience in the field or lessor formal qualifications with extensive experience in a similar position and a sound understanding of the relevant OH&S legislation and staff/contractor management.
Essential Experience:
  • Ability to effectively analyse and specify building maintenance works in terms of current technology.
  • Ability to supervise and negotiate with trades and building service contractors.
  • Understanding of the purpose of and ability to utilise (building) Asset Management Systems.
  • Ability to prepare written reports, specifications, letters and memos to a standard that meets the purpose of those documents.
  • Current red/white card - basic construction induction card.
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence.
  • Current Working with Children Check employee (wwcc).
