Symex Labs is a purpose driven medical technology start-up born from its founders’ personal experience with infertility. An experience that showed there was extensive room for improvement when it comes to tracking fertility hormones throughout the IVF journey, thus the idea to build a wearable bio-sensing patch for the continuous tracking of ovulation and Symex Labs was born. 

Using their expertise from holding executive positions in the MedTech space and technical know-how from working in previous start-ups, the founders have taken Symex Labs from idea conception to a product in development that is backed by Monash IVF Group and supported by investors.  

Symex Labs have a wonderful opportunity for a highly qualified and experienced Technical Program Manager to: 

• Join our multi-disciplinary product development team; 
• Take charge of bio-sensor development and clinical validation projects in wearable medical devices space; 
• Drive our Agile project management methodology towards a regulated ISO-13485 based quality management system.     

Primary Responsibilities  

You will manage and help develop Symex Labs fertility tracking platform and support IP portfolio development through: 

• Enhancing, developing, and implementing agile program management strategies to ensure the successful delivery of key initiatives. 
• Managing budgets, scope, and schedules, and communicating progress effectively to stakeholders, including budgeting, variance reports, and forecasting. 
• Adjusting project schedules to match the existing capacity. 
• Reporting on program performance to senior stakeholders, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement. 

In addition, you will bring your prior technical project and program management experience to: 

• Understand the interlinking and overlapping nature of our projects and facilitate effective coordination. 
• Liaise with key stakeholders to increase awareness of the program and build strong relationships. 
• Introduce rotation of resources across different tasks for optimal output. 
• Participate in research grants proposal including project design, proposal submission and liaison with partners.  
• Coordinating and facilitating team meetings, workshops, and other collaborative activities. 
• Identifying opportunities for continual improvement and driving their implementation. 

Key Selection Criteria  

• Minimum of 3 years of Technical Program and/or project management experience, with a preference for scientific and engineering projects in biosensing, electrochemistry, biochemistry, process engineering or related domains. 
• Proficiency with one or more modern project management, budgeting and reporting software. 
• Excellent communication skills. 
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with adaptability across disciplines.  
• Resourceful and with excellent problem-solving skills. 

• Desirable Skills, Qualifications and Experience   
• Qualifications and experience in process engineering, chemistry or hardware engineering. 
• Certifications or qualifications in Project or Program Management. 
• Experience in a regulated environment in digital health or medical devices domains. 
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, Matlab) and statistical methods. 

Other Requirements  

• Must have Australian citizenship/permanent residence or an appropriate visa with full-time working rights. 
• Must be located or willing to relocate to Melbourne. 
• Must be able to attend our Carlton based office at least once a week in person.
