Job Description

Summary

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager with extensive experience in plant/mine design and maintenance within the mining or oil/gas industry. This role provides a unique opportunity to work with multidisciplinary teams across various projects within Australia's leading minerals and metals producing companies. Based in Brisbane, this position requires frequent travel to various sites and occasional fly-in-fly-out periods. The initial contract will be for one year with the possibility for extension. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional project management skills, a deep understanding of the mining industry, and the ability to effectively collaborate with on-shore and off-shore diverse teams.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE - Essential

· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical / electrical engineering or another relevant discipline. Mechanical/Electrical exposure will be beneficial.

· 10-20 years’ experience in cross-functional leadership roles in a plant operations/ Projects environment.

· Advanced safety awareness. (Preferable to QLD Regulations)

· Coordination, organization and planning of community industrial relations awareness.

· Commercial awareness.

· Experience in managing multi-discipline projects (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Control & Automation & Maintenance practices with safety).

· Experience in leadership, management, and administrative processes.

· Experience in engineering, procurement, construction, and other project-related activities, interfaces, and interdependencies. Broad knowledge of industry standards.

· Proven background of resourcefulness under pressure.

· Relationship building & offshore team coordination.

· Strong customer/client focus.

· Judgment problem-solving.

· Well-developed written and oral communication/negotiation skills.

· Ability to build teams and function well in a team environment.

PREFERRED:

· Working knowledge on Mine site & process plant with design & maintenance experience.

· Working knowledge of engineering, project control systems and mining & construction management

· Business development skills.

· Working with Australian mining Companies will be beneficial.

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE:

Practical experience and knowledge concerning plant engineering with installation and commissioning of large diameter ROM SAG Mills, ball mills, Flotation tanks, Filters, primary and secondary crushing, vibratory feeders, conveyors, thickeners, tailings disposal, civil, structural, electrical, (HT and LT) and instrumentation is a requirement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Experience in preparing order of Magnitude, Pre-Feasibility & Feasibility study on the project requests from Site Engineers.

· Reviewing existing designs and preparing Concept ideas with cost & timelines of the project.

· Review on Electrical substations, Transmission related details, changes to PLC & MCC panels.

· Lead cross-functional teams to deliver plant engineering solutions for strategic projects.

· Develops and obtain sign-off from the contractors on Project Execution Plan (PEP) and Requirement Specification.

· Develops and resources an appropriate organization structure and ensures that the entire project team has the required resources for the work.

· Work with counterparts from manufacturing, aftermarket, sales, and purchasing to ensure that projects are properly coordinated.

· Provides leadership to the project and creates a highly committed and aligned team environment with all who can influence the project’s outcomes.

· Ensures governance on the project, procedures, and policies. Authorizes all commitments of expenditure on the project (subject to agreed delegation) and approves payment of invoices, manages claims responses and settlement processes.

· Develops a detailed scope, cost and schedule control baseline and manages any project changes in terms of this agreed control baseline.

· Carries clear responsibility and accountability for the delivery of the project goals as set down by the client/project director. Coordinates all client contacts, including major correspondence between the contractor and the client, and maintains working relationships at all levels throughout the period of the project. Monitors and controls all contractual commitments to assure that all work is being performed in accordance with the specifications, drawings, terms of the contract and client expectations.

· Conducts regular project progress and client meetings to review the progress and issues in all disciplines of the project.

· Communicates regularly with all staff to ensure that goals and priorities are clearly understood and to promote a healthy working environment.

· Directs and reviews all discipline functions throughout the project lifecycle and ensures that the discipline leads actively manage best practices within each field.

· Ensures that the required business and workplace integration activities occur. Specifically, that project documentation (contractual, engineering, maintenance and workplace change related) is managed (received, reviewed, comments incorporated, responded, and incorporated in plant records).

· Obtains client's acceptance of the work, and sign-off for the completed project. Is responsible for the preparation and submission of the final project close-out report, and prompt closeout of the prime contract.

· Displays and actively promotes behavior aligned to achieving a total safety culture by: Participating in the investigation of all serious incidents reported and ensuring all follow-up actions are carried out; Participating in audits of work areas; Attending all identified safety training

· Ensures compliance to the project Environmental Management Plan.
