Airbus Australia Pacific has an opportunity for a Desktop Publisher in a Technical Writer role to join our Technical Publications team in Richmond, NSW in support of the C130J Hercules aircraft. The position is a permanent, full time position.
About the role
Reporting to the Team Lead C130 Technical Support Services, the Technical Publications team, works closely as a positive and inclusive team of technical experts focused on success.
Some of your day-to-day activities will include:
* Developing technical publication amendments, compliant with Commonwealth and Airbus standards, in support of C130J support activities.
* Drafting technical publications for support of the C130J weapon system.
* Developing work programs in liaison with the Engineering, Logistics and Maintenance Sections of the C130J TLS Program to provide efficient delivery of technical writing services to satisfy Commonwealth and Company priorities.
* Maintaining data files, records and electronic databases as required to accurately report and record technical writing tasks.
* Contributing to the development and implementation of efficient and effective technical data management systems.
* Assisting in the management of technical data maintained in support of C130J TLS.
* Re-mastering and creating illustrations using MS Photoshop, Illustrator etc
* Performing formatting and quality checks of documents.
* Auditing of softcopy AAP's and re-issuing publications as required.
* Answering customer queries from Airbus and CoA staff relating to AAP's, Drawings and data.
* Reporting of Work In Progress (WIP) and backlog.
About you
To be successful in this role, it is a requirement to be able to work in a team environment, have well developed relationship skills as well as good verbal and written skills. You will need to be someone who is able to work autonomously and to tight deadlines and work comfortably in a continuous improvement work environment.
The skills and experience best suited to this role include:
* Knowledge and experience with using the Microsoft Office software suite
* Demonstrated experience in writing technical publications and technical publication amendments
* Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
* Demonstrated high-level communication skills, both verbal and written
* Strong planning skills and strong time management / organisational skills
* Strong written communication skills (English)
* The ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders both internal and external to Airbus
* Sufficient technical vocabulary to allow correct interpretation and processing technical information.
* Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality and customer satisfaction
