Sport at Grammar is about ensuring that we develop outstanding young people who understand success is about participation, discipline and commitment.

Sunshine Coast Grammar Tennis provides a comprehensive range of tennis programs. The tennis facility has 6 courts, and the program also utilises the school gym, ovals and indoor sporting facilities. Our programs are consistently growing, with 500+ coaching bookings per week, 100+ players playing competition, and numerous state and national level players. Grammar Tennis are the 2022 and 2023 winners of QLD Tennis Awards Most Outstanding School and Coaching Excellence Awards. 

The opportunity:

Sunshine Coast Grammar Tennis is looking for full-time and part-time Tennis Coaches in 2024. 

The role(s) will primarily focus on delivering coaching tennis sessions across a range of programs. There will also be the opportunity for administration and competitions support/management for the right applicants. The specifics of the role(s) can be tailored to each coach’s skill-set and preferred focus areas. Responsibilities may include: 

  • Hot Shots group lessons and Yellow ball squads (Participation Pathway) 
  • Hot Shots and Performance Squads (Performance Pathway)
  • Private Lessons
  • Tennis Holiday Camps
  • Restringing and Pro Shop Services
  • Tennis School of Excellence (students can do tennis for 1 or 2 subjects)
  • Health & Physical Education Tennis lessons and Primary School Sport tennis sessions
  • Early Learning Centre tennis programs
  • Extensive range of club and school leagues/events, and Hot Shots tournaments. 
  • Coach support for players at tournaments
  • Athletic development / strength & conditioning.
  • Assisting in the development of tennis program resources - end of term reports, marketing and communication material, newsletters, etc.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Working within a team environment to create, maintain and promote a clean, harmonious and happy environment where customers are happy to attend regularly.
  • Ensuring the reception and equipment are clean, tidy and presentable at all times.
  • Maintenance of up-to-date knowledge of all areas of Tennis Coaching by attending regular professional development opportunities.
  • Promoting the tennis program at every opportunity.
  • Ensuring that all daily work duties are completed.
  • Having a basic understanding of software programs including point of sale and class management. 
  • Attending staff meetings

This is a great experience to further refine your coaching experience, work in a driven and passionate team of sports professionals and help students succeed and develop in Tennis. 

Depending on the applicant, there will be a significant number of day-time hours with school-time programs, and all coaching programs are finished by 6:30pm during Term. School holiday programs are typically finished by 3:30pm. 

About our coaches:

Our coaches are experienced, and preferably qualified, with proven ability to develop skills and instil passion for sport in students.

Position Requirements:

  • Team player, enthusiastic, fun, great work ethic.
  • Excellent Tennis Coaching skills and a commitment to learning and improving.
  • Tennis Australia Qualified Coach Member (Junior Development, Club Professional or High Performance) or willing to pursue these qualifications
  • Very good time management and organisational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current Working with Children Blue Card or Exemption Card (or able to obtain)
  • Current First Aid and CPR qualifications
