Digital @Ampol:

The Digital team designs, builds and operates most of Ampol’s digital applications by following agile and engineering best practices. We have multiple agile squads comprising of Product Owners, Business Analysts, Scrum masters, mobile, frontend, backend and quality engineers.  The major applications we manage are Ampol app-Ampol’s flagship app and centre of our digital experience, energy-an exciting launch in Mar 2023 that officially made us an electricity retailer, myAmpol-handling millions of dollars of fuel orders, cards-a fresh new application for Ampol cards management and a few smaller applications that makes customer’s life easier.

The role:

As Ampol evolves its digital transformation, and becomes increasingly reliant on digital applications, data engineering poducts and modern enterprise solutions to drive operations, customer interactions, and innovation, we are seeking a Test Practice Lead to ensure that applications and products are not only functional but scalable, reliable, of the highest quality.

Reporting to the Head of Software Engineering, the Test Practice Lead will play a pivotal in transitioning traditional business models to digital platforms, ensuring that the transition is smooth, risk-managed, and aligned with overall business goals. This role requires an experienced leader who has extensive experience in leading Test teams, scaling capability and leveraging automation to improve the overall effectiveness of Testing.

You’ll take us further by:

• Lead, mentor and grow the Test Practice capability at Ampol, defining ways of working and leading the adoption of best practices in testing and automation
• Work closely with software engineering, product management and UX teams to integrate testing best practices into the development and deployment process
• Lead the development and execution of the test automation strategy for digital applications, data projects, and enterprise technology focusing on innovation and quality.
• Lead the Selection of Enteprise Test autmation Patterns and Technology choices
• Lead the Test Practice in the planning, design, execution and maintenance of test strategies and test plans across multiple initiatives, ensuring high quality test coverage
• Manage and mentor a diverse and distributed Test team, ensuring effective collaboration across locations and time zones, fostering a culture of inclusivity and innovation 
• Manage budgets, resources and project timelines related to testing initiatives
• Promote a culture of quality throughout the organisation

About You:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
• Experience in selection and implementation of best of breed Test Automation suites in Dev, Integration and SaaS environments
• Demonstrated experience leading Test functions through large complex change projects/programmes with a focus on digital transformation
• Ability to drive change and foster innovation within the team and the wider organization.
• Demonstrated experience leading and growing Testing capabilities within enterprise organisations
• Strong expertise in automation testing of digital applications (web and mobile).
• Experience with a range of test automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Cypress) and frameworks.
• Proficiency in programming languages relevant to test automation (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Java).
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams across different geographical locations and cultures.
• Expertise with agile methodologies and experience integrating test automation into agile workflows.
• Experience in working with senior leaders/sponsors of change initiatives and influence senior relationships across a diverse business.
• Diverse industry exposure, across complex enterprise organisations
• Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities
