Ballarat Day Procedure Centre comprises of three operating theatres and offers a broad range of surgical services for all patients. Surgical specialities include Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, IVF, Plastics, Gastroenterology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Vascular, General surgery and Dental.
We are seeking an experienced Theatre Technician to join us on a permanent full-time basis.
The Theatre Technician will work as a competent, reliable member of the health care team under the guidance of nursing, anaesthetic and surgical staff, in their delivery of patient care.
As a Theatre Technician your responsibilities will include:
- Responsibility for assisting staff with the transportation of patients within, to and from the operating theatre
- Assist with patient procedures as required
- Maintain procedure room/operating theatre equipment ensuring a clean, safe and efficient environment for patients and staff
- Provide assistance to medical and nursing staff
- Promote patient safety at all times
- Assist in other areas within the theatre complex
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Be familiar with the correct operation of all equipment
- Be aware of the WH&S guidelines for the safe management of equipment, beds and patients throughout the hospital
Essential criteria:
- Completed a minimum Certificate III in Health Service Assistance (Theatre Technician) or equivalent
- Current BLS certification
- Recent 2-3 years’ experience as a Theatre Technician is preferable
- Strong evidence of accountability and responsibility for actions
- ability to cope effectively with competing and conflicting priorities
- Critical thinking and problem-solving capability
- Good organisational skills, flexible and adaptable.

- Experience in a healthcare environment
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- Willingness to learn
- Ability to identify process improvement opportunities
