Talent International is currently recruiting for a Tobacco Regulatory Control Officers x 2 to work for an NSW Government client based in St Leonards. This is contract role 12-months contract with the view to be extended. The role is paying $55/hour + Super.
8 hours per day and 40 hours per week
Description:
Tobacco Regulatory Control Officers are responsible for conducting tobacco, e-cigarettes and smoke-free compliance activities, including:
- Inspections of regulated retailers and smoke-free locations to provide face-to-face education and monitor compliance in line with our regulatory priorities.
- Compliance monitoring and issuing Penalty Notices and cautions to members of the public allegedly in breach of the provisions of the relevant legislation.
- Collection, collation and analysis of data relating to compliance monitoring and enforcement activity.
Conduct all court appearance work, including mentions for prosecutions from the Tobacco & E-cigarettes Compliance Team until either a plea of not guilty is entered into by the defendant or until such time as the matter is taken over by legal representatives engaged by the Ministry.
Officers are appointed under the Public Health Act 2010, the Public Health (Tobacco) Act 2008, Smoke-free Environment Act 2000 and the Poisons and Therapeutic Goods Act 1966 to undertake these activities.
Selection Criteria:
- Extensive experience in regulatory and compliance activity including interpretation of legislation.
- A minimum qualification of a certificate IV in Government Investigations is desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to use effective well-developed interpersonal skills to manage difficult interactions, resolve conflict and de-escalate situations.
- Ability to work flexibly, including across different environments and contexts.
- Demonstrated organisational skills and experience working in a high volume and demanding professional environment with a capacity to prioritise competing demands and achieve results with a customer focused approach.
- Proven capacity to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proven engagement, collaboration and negotiation skills with the capability to build, maintain and use relationships with customers and stakeholders to achieve desired results.
- Capacity and willingness, including current NSW driver's license, to travel to locations throughout NSW, which may include overnight stay in regional / remote areas.
