About the Opportunity
As part of AEDA, the Advisor, Tourism Industry Development will drive AEDA’s approach to growing Adelaide’s visitor economy. You will be the central point for destination stewardship, increasing the range of products and experiences that will attract people to visit Adelaide and stay longer. You will play a key role supporting the development of more robust capabilities in the visitor economy sector and developing partnerships with government agencies and the private sector to deliver initiatives that increase the number of people visiting the City.
Some of the day-to-day things you’ll see yourself doing include:
- Providing research and practical advice to the AEDA Board and management ensuring that AEDA delivers a contemporary approach to Tourism Industry Development and destination marketing.
- Developing and implementing new and innovative visitor experiences that build the Visitor Economy including developing new bookable products, itineraries and wayfinding strategies that lengthen visitor stay and maximise the value of their time in the City.
- Driving the development of a new Visitor Experience Centre and providing strategic direction in the day-to-day management of the Visitor Information Centre and the Visitor information Services (VIS) programs.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Working knowledge of Tourism principles and the development and delivery of Visitor attraction strategies, programs and projects.
- Proven track record of successfully leading projects and initiatives that grow visitor numbers in a city or region.
- Sound understanding of current and emerging trends within local and international Visitor growth and attraction trends.
- Experience in the development of Tourism services, facilities and initiatives at a commercial level.
- Knowledge and experience in destination marketing.
- Proven ability to successfully manage external relationships to the benefit of the organisation.
- A demonstrated commitment to internal and external customers demonstrated through the provision of timely, reliable and expert advice on matters within area of responsibility.
