Track Curator

Lockyer Valley Turf Club (LVTC) is currently seeking an experienced Track Curator with thoroughbred racing and club operations experience. Reporting to the Operations Manager and Club Executive Committee, the Track Curator will play a central role in shaping the club's racetrack maintenance, contributing to the continued growth, sustainability, and success of the Lockyer Valley Turf Club

Primary Responsibilities

• To implement all day-to-day club racing and training activities 
• To work closely with the Operations Manager, Club Secretary, and committee in day-to-day operations
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules for Thoroughbred horses to prepare them for races.
• Oversee the maintenance and preparation of racing tracks, ensuring they meet industry standards.
• Coordinate with the operations team to implement track repairs and improvements.
• Analyse performance data to make informed decisions about training and track conditions.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
• Implement racetrack and club facility maintenance and support capital development.
• Liaising with Stakeholders
• Working closely with Racing Queensland and QRIC
• Provide effective support for venue and event management on race days.
• Build strong internal and external relationships that will continue to drive great outcomes for the club.
• Comply with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and all club policies and procedures.

Selection Criteria

• Desired but not essential - proven experience in Thoroughbred training and racetrack maintenance
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities
• Extensive hands-on racecourse experience (Tractors, Machinery etc.)
• Car License
• Solid experience of asset management
• Desired but not essential - Experience with preparation of race days
• Experience in leading a team and supervising staff
• Knowledge and understanding of racing and training
