Trade Assistant – Manufacturing Site Accommodation

The Company

Our client manufactures and hires out mobile accommodation camps, supplying to the mining, emergency services, oil & gas and energy industries, Australia wide. Our client can configure camps to their clients specifications and requirements providing accommodation units, commercial kitchens, recreational units, offices and laundries. 

Due to a large increase in camp orders for commercial hire, our client is currently in an expansion / accelerated growth phase where the company is transitioning from a small WA based operation to a medium sized business, operating Australia wide.  To facilitate our clients expansion, they are increasing staffing levels in all departments which includes several experienced Trades Assistants to work in build team.

The Role

The caravans our clients manufacture can be a standard design through to custom manufacture to meet their clients specifications.  Working from a trailer chassis up the manufacturing process includes several stages which include;

• Trailer Chassis Manufacture
• Floor & Floor Covering Installation
• Frame Build
• Panel Cutting & Fixing
• Plumbing Fit Out – Shower Units, Commercial Kitchens
• Electrical Fit Out – Power Points, Air conditioning, Communications
• Cabinets, Doors & Window Installation
• Fitting Bedding, Furniture, TV’s, Ovens, Desks 

As a Trade Assistant, you will be working across several stages of the build process where you will be working in small teams or autonomously across the following tasks;

• Panel Cutting – Measuring Up & Using Table Saw Cutting Panels
• Fames – Measure & Cutting Timber & Steel 
• Flooring – Cutting Floor Sheets & Installing / Glueing Vinyl Coverings
• Fixing & Fitting Walls, Doors & Windows
• Running Electrical Cable & Pre Fit of Power Points, Lights, Communications 
• Plumbing – Cutting, Glueing & Fitting PVC Pipe for Shower & Kitchen Units
• Fitting Cabinets, Desks, Beds, Benches & Fixtures

The work will have a focus on the following Trade Assistant tasks;

• Measuring & Marking Up
• Cutting Wood & Steel using – Bench Saws, Circular Saws & Drop Saws
• Using cordless drills to screw in frames, floors, walls, roofs, doors, windows
• Glueing & Silicone – Glueing Vinyl Flooring through to operating silicone gun and gaps

Working Hours & Days

Based in Bibra Lake the Working Hours and Days will include;

• Working Days: Monday to Friday (5 Days per Week)
• Start Time: 7:00 AM 
• Finnish Time: Between 3:30 PM and 4:30 pm
• Working Hours Per Week: 38 (Additional hours can be expected to meet Business Demands when required)

The Candidate

Ideally, we are seeking a candidate that has at least 1 year work experience as a Trade Assistant working in the following job types or trades;

• Portable Building Manufacture
• Caravan Manufacture or Repair
• Shop Fit Out
• Carpentry 
• Construction
• Cabinet Making
• Shop Fitting
• Boat Manufacture 

Essential Criteria;

• Experienced in precisely measuring & marking up – panels, wood, steel
• Operating Table Saws, Circular Saws, Drop Saws & Mitre Saws
• Highly competent on using cordless & powered drills, impact wrenches, grinders, reciprocating saws 

In addition, we are seeking a candidate that possess the following skills and personality traits

• Desires ongoing / permanent employment
• Works well in a team or autonomously
• Is able to take direction & complete tasks without supervision or assistance
• Considers themselves as possessing a very strong work ethic, especially in time keeping & attendance
• Exceptional communication skills – written & verbal
• Be able to work under pressure where tight deadlines occur regularly
• Have attention to detail in all facets of your work
• Have excellent organizational skills, where prioritizing work and changing schedules is standard practice

Remuneration 

Our client is seeking dependable Trade Assistant to join their team. We are able to consider those with Temporary Working Rights in Australia, however we ideally would like a commitment of 6+ Months. 

Initially, our client would like to start the successful candidate on casual employment. Depending on experience, qualifications and past work history, pay rates will be the following;

• $32.00 to $40.00 Per Hour Flat – Depending on Experience
• + Superannuation on all hours worked

Dependent on Performance, our client will then look to sign the successful candidate over onto permanent employment, which is Salary + Overtime + Super.
