Ahrens Rural – a leading division of the Ahrens family of brands – expertly build silos which are made in our local facilities and are delivered either fully assembled or ready for site construction. Our extensive range of products include transportable silos, field bins, feeders, augers and conveyors, material handling systems, grain storage and handling complexes and bulker systems.
About the Role
Ahrens currently has an opportunity open for a Trades Assistant to join our Goombungee team. You will work in the production team and will be responsible for cutting, drilling, screwing materials and/or components in preparation for the production process and assisting in the assembly and fabrication of agricultural products to safety, quality and time specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow work orders and production schedules or job instructions and specifications.
- Mark-out, cut/drill/punch holes as directed in steel components and assemblies.
- Layout, position, align and assemble components together as instructed.
- Mechanical cutting of steel.
- Label and sort manufactured components and assemblies into product groups
- Move steel in workshop with overhead crane and forklift (where licensed and authorized)
- Transfer fabricated components between production departments as instructed.
- Perform general maintenance and housekeeping of work areas and site work areas, equipment, tools and facilities.
- Apply touch paint to fabricated steelwork
- Safely and efficiently undertake other duties as instructed by Supervisor.
- Perform general site works as required.
- Undertake all other reasonable tasks and duties within your skill and ability, as directed.
Skills and Experience
- Driver’s Licence;
- Flexible approach and cooperative team attitude;
- Willingness to take undertake on-the-job training.
- Good communication skills
- Genuine passion for manufacturing
- Ability to take initiative;
- Be prepared to work reasonable amounts of overtime as operationally required
- Forklift Licence (desirable)
