The day to day
ALS Geochemistry at our Malaga site is looking for a Trades Assistant.
This Full-Time position would suit a person who is willing and able to help tradesmen and also turn their hand to any general maintenance tasks that can be found in a laboratory facility.
Working with our maintenance and management team, the successful applicant will be given on-the-job training in all aspects of routine maintenance of laboratory equipment to ensure they fully understand the task while always complying with ALS HSE policy.
A high level of communication will be required in this role as the successful candidate will need to be able to liaise directly with facility management promptly regarding equipment issues or downtime.
This position requires performing routine preventative and reactive maintenance duties, general facility site repairs, simple metal fabrication tasks & repairs. It also allows the employee to expand their skill base into the maintenance and/or repairs of all on-site equipment.
Other duties will include mowing, whipper snipping, weeding, spraying, and site clean-up + bulk rubbish disposal.
The essentials
- Previous experience with power tools & equipment on a professional or personal level
- Carpentry experience is highly regarded.
- Construction experience like labouring is essential.
- Mechanical & Fabrication experience is highly regarded
- Excellent work ethic
- Committed to a safety culture while maximizing productivity
- The ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision whilst being committed to the work of a team
- Current driver’s license (C class) manual and own transport to and from the workplace
- The ability to handle a busy and diverse workload
- Forklift licence is not necessary but will be highly regrded.
