About the team
Our Network Assets and Assurance (NA&A) team includes more than 2000 people from Infrastructure, Innovation, Engineering, Rolling Stock, OCMS, Strategic Asset Management and Planning and Integration.
We are MTM's Rolling Stock Engineering team – the experts who ensure that our trains run smoothly and safely across Melbourne's expansive network. Our primary focus is on providing high-quality engineering services for all passenger fleets, including the state-of-the-art EV120. But more than just keeping things running, we're committed to continuous improvement. Our goal is simple: to enhance safety, increase reliability, and reduce costs over the lifecycle of our trains. We take pride in fulfilling our obligations under the MR4 Rolling Stock Overhaul franchise, all while delivering exceptional service to our passengers. About the role
The Trade Assistant is responsible for the support and assistance the delivery of maintenance and renewals, reactive maintenance, system alterations and upgrades and new works on our Siemens/Nexus fleet. This is a fulltime 15 month max term position working from Monday to Friday 7am-4pm at our Westall Projects Depot.
What you will be doing:
Assist with the installation, repair and modification of rolling stock assets.
Perform manual work associated with the maintenance, renewal or upgrade of rolling stock assets.
Perform labouring tasks which use both hand tools and mechanical tools
Assist the SMT with required tasks and perform safe working duties associated with the day to day protection requirements of work teams
Assist with inspections and update the system to provide information on asset condition
Maintain workplace, yards and any tools/equipment being used
