Our client is an Australian owned company with 25 years' experience in a wide range of services for water and wastewater treatment and management, who pride themselves on prioritising the needs and requirements of their customers every step of the way.
The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Water Treatment Operator to join our team in and around Emerald, QLD, on a temporary basis for 6 months with the view to extend this to an ongoing role, for the right candidate.
The applicant needs to have strong communication skills and who works well within a team environment as well as working independently.
Duties are but not limited to:
- Monday to Friday 7:00am - 5:00pm shift
- Ensuring that water entering plant is treated to meet regulatory standards
- Regulate water flow through stages of treatment
- Using proper methods to treat water, monitor plant for unclean water, and correct any problems as soon as possible
- Ensuring the proper execution of water treatment processes while complying with all safety requirements
- Working with a range of treatment technologies, from conventional to UF systems
- Operate specialised manual and computerised equipment to control water flow
- Use appropriate chemicals to treat water and wastewater
- Take samples and monitor water quality
- Keep accurate records of all treatments and readings taken
- Carry out routine maintenance on treatment equipment and report faults to engineers.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience operating a treatment plant
- The ability to follow processes and procedures
- Good physical fitness
- An understanding of health and safety regulations
- Observational skills and attention to detail
- The operator must have the skills to use the machines correctly and the knowledge to make sure that the water is treated to the best of their ability
- Demonstrated experience with SCADA including the ability to analyse trends
- Required to have a lot of knowledge about water treatment process, chemicals, filtration, and other aspects of water treatment.
- Operator must have the ability to read and understand water treatment plant schematics, manuals, and other documents in order to carry out daily tasks
- Requires knowledge of water chemistry, wastewater treatment process and plant operations.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Certificate 3 in Water Operations or relevant experience
- Ability to pass all pre-employment checks
