Community Services is an enterprise of Community Resources and provides services as follows:

Homebase Youth Services (HYS) delivers services to meet the needs of young Aboriginal and TSI people, particularly those who have barriers to employment or are disadvantaged.

Helping Hands Building Services has been serving the Great Lakes and Manning communities for more than 30 years.  Our team provides home building, specialist home modifications, construction and maintenance, with the goal of helping clients remain independent.

Helping Hands Care Services (HHCS) provides its clients the opportunity to live safely and independently in their own homes by delivering a high standard of in-home care assistance in a caring and respectful manner.  

The Garage Youth Refuge provides 24/7 supported crisis accommodation for young people aged up to 17 years.  

About the role

We are seeking trainees who wish to gain experience across Community Services. The positions are funded through The NSW Government's Return-to-Work Pathways Program (RTWPP) to support women from focus communities work towards employment readiness, to assist in securing sustainable employment. The primary objective of the program is to reduce barriers for women entering or re-entering the workforce. Skills will be developed through hands on training and competence training and assessment by completing an agreed Cert III.

We offer two training pathways: Cert III in Business Administration or Cert III in Community Services. The most suitable training will be agreed upon with your manager upon commencement. 

The positions are fixed term for 12 months, working on a part-time basis of 25hrs per week, based in Tuncurry and Tarree NSW.

About you

  • Eager to be part of a workplace community which respects people and planet
  • Committed to adhering to our values of being authentic, fair, kind, brave and sustainable
  • Are prepared to undertake a Working with Children Check
  • Are prepared to undertake a Criminal History Check
  • Will make every effort to complete a Certificate III in Business Administration or Community Services 
  • Have experienced difficulties entering or re-entering the labour market
  • Will work under supervision to plan, deliver and promote programs and activities 
  • Collaborate with a range of stakeholders, team members and community members under supervision
  • Sound awareness and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their customs and culture  

The following though not essential, would be an advantage:

  • Experience in a youth or community services environment
  • Effective communications skills, verbal and written
  • Computer literacy  
  • Commitment to safe work practices (WHS)
  • Current Drivers Licence
