Our Lihir operation in Mining Department is now recruiting for the position of Mine Trainer based at our Lihir Gold Operation (LGO).
Reporting to the Senior Mine Trainer, you are required to assist Mining Training Senior Trainers to meet all targeted training outcomes and objectives by focusing on their own behaviors and ensuring compliance to all Newmont - Lihir Operating Procedures.
The role will have responsibility to:
- To assist senior Trainers, to ensure safe operation of Haul Trucks, Auxiliary Equipment, or Loading Equipment as directed by the Production Superintendent.
- Ensuring tasks are carried out in accordance with Safe Operating Procedures.
- Ensure their own competency levels are maintained by attendance at scheduled training.
- Works constructively within a diverse group of people.
- Delivers consistently on commitments and takes accountability for own development.
- To conduct training activities for Mining Technicians, Trainee Technicians and Mining personnel plus Business partners -to safely operate equipment as per Site standards.
Essential criteria
Ideally, our preferred applicant will have;
- Relevant surface mining qualification.
- Relevant mobile equipment qualifications
- PNG National Driver’s License essential.
- Immersive simulator skills.
- Certificate IV in training and assessing.
- 3 – 5 years relevant work experience essential in heavy industry preferably within a mining environment; either through experience in a similar operation or through progression.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously from time to time.
- High attention to detail with good time management skills.
- Strong active listening & interpersonal skills.
The Requirements
- This opportunity is open to PNG citizens who are currently employed by Newmont
- Must be available for FIFO to Lihir
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment.
- Must have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months.
