About the teamAlfred Health and Monash Health have established a formal partnership to deliver a Shared Pathology Service as one of three new pathology networks for metropolitan Melbourne. This partnership is aligned with the Victorian Government's Pathology system reform. The Pathology programs are working in partnership to ensure we meet the future demand and continue to provide high quality pathology services for the patients and community across the health services. In the Partnership, pathology services are provided from two main laboratories (The Alfred in Prahran and Monash Medical Centre in Clayton), and six branch laboratories (Casey Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Moorabbin Hospital, Sandringham Hospital, Wonthaggi Hospital and Victorian Heart Hospital). In addition, there are 20 collection centres and rooms spread across South East Melbourne and South Gippsland, with the furthest one located in Yarram.About the role

• Responsible to the Project Director, the Transition Operations Manager is responsible for the establishment of laboratories and related pathology service across Western Health.
• Work with Pathology Leadership across Alfred Health and Monash Health to develop operational plans for the Western Health service that are aligned and consistent with the overall Alfred/Monash Shared Pathology Service strategic plan, the tender proposal and budget.
• Oversee pathology operations across Western Health sites throughout the Transition Project and go-live
• Provide operational oversight through the go-live period and the initial period of operations (to Dec 2025).
• Work with the Pathology Leadership to establish a workforce model for the pathology service across Western Health and manage the transition workforce during the transition and go-live
• Contribute to project management as directed, including but not limited to project reporting and workgroup participation.
• The Transition Operations Manager will undertake on a range of functions and tasks at the direction of Project Director and will be a vital member of the project team.
• Promote and encourage a culture of innovation and improvement, put in place quality systems, processes and measures, and benchmark and link best practice with actual where possible

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant pathology or health discipline
• Experience in pathology laboratory operations
• Experience in developing and documenting operational plans/operating procedures through consultation and engagement with subject matter experts
• Experience in workforce panning and rostering
• An established understanding of health services and service delivery objectives
• A track record of successful leadership within a complex professional and multidisciplinary services environment.
