About the role
The Respiratory and Sleep Disorders Clinical Operations Manager is a newly created leadership position in Medical Services at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. The role encompasses the management of the day-to-day operations of the Respiratory and Sleep Disorders Unit and will lead the development and implementation of strategies to optimise clinical service delivery and patient access, with a focus on providing optimal patient experience and achievement of key performance indicators, financial and activity targets.
The Respiratory and Sleep Disorders department includes an internationally recognised interventional bronchoscopy service, inpatient services including a high dependency care area for non- invasive ventilation, specialist outpatient services including clinics for pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease, pleural disease, comprehensive sleep service including a 6-bed laboratory and a full range of multidisciplinary sleep services.
The candidate will ensure the effective day to day operation of the department whilst also enhancing safety, maintaining standards across all clinical areas including the Sleep and Lung function laboratories, building clinical research capacity and developing Clinical Nurse Consultant roles.

With responsibility for managing the operations of a busy Respiratory and Sleep Disorders service, you will have demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate positive patient outcomes with key stakeholders while managing competing demands
The success profile for role:
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of working in an operational leadership role in an acute hospital environment
- Demonstrated strong adaptable interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with all stakeholders
- Proven experience in managing KPI datasets including monitoring of activity targets, human resource management
- Be highly organised and can prioritise competing demands
- Demonstrated experience collaborating and leading change with clinical teams and leaders.
- Comprehensive understanding of innovative service delivery models and frameworks.
- Strong business and financial acumen with solid budget management and funding experience.
- High level analytical skills and ability to identify priority issues.
