About you

Our business is looking for a talented and qualified Transport Manager to join our management team. In this position, you will be responsible for management of our transport fleet, despatch operations and the team of drivers and store personnel. Your duties will include the effective management of all aspects of our delivery function. This includes supervising the loading and unloading process to ensure all goods are packed efficiently, supervise warehouse staff and drivers to ensure time is used efficiently and organising warehouse space to allow for the safe and secure storage of product. It is essential that you work closely with other managers and departments to maximise our service offer and provide an efficient and effective delivery service to our regional branches.

About the role

CMI has commenced a significant change process. This includes both cultural & operational change, with significant investment into IT, work practices and methodologies. The position will play a key role in introducing and leading the change process in the transport area of the business. We currently run our own transport fleet of 12 vehicles and company employed drivers. This is an important role in our company’s structure. It is pivotal in delivering excellent company service to our portfolio of customers. The person we are looking to fill this role must be experienced in logistics management, team building with excellent communication skills. The incumbent will work with all areas of the Combined Metal company including sales, manufacturing, warehousing. You will be responsible for assisting the day-to-day operation of the Transport team, ensuring KPIs and processes are met in a timely and efficient manner. You will assist with developing relationships and trust with all of our clients.
