Your New Role
As a Transport Planner, you will take a leadership role in several critical areas:
- Lead the review and update of the Shire’s
Ride Safe and Pedestrian Access Strategies. These strategies are essential for ensuring safe and efficient transportation options for our community. - Lead the development of new or existing transport strategies and policies, including the
Integrated Transport Strategy. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping our city’s transportation vision. - Manage communication and engagement activities aimed at behavioural change. Encourage community uptake of active transport (such as walking and cycling) and public transit. Your efforts will contribute to a healthier and more sustainable city.
- Effectively analyse transport data and collaborate with consultants on transport investigations.
- Provide strategic transport planning advice for projects and long-term strategies.
- Take responsibility for planning and prioritising new footpaths.
- Identify and prepare funding applications from relevant sources. Attract additional resources for delivering current and new projects.
- Advocate for improved transport, accessibility, and safety at all levels of government and with external stakeholders. Your voice will help shape policies and initiatives that benefit our community.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- A bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience in transport planning, preferably within a local government context.
Skills:
- Ability to manage workloads at a high standard.
- Political awareness with an ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Self-motivated and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to set priorities and plans in an organised fashion to achieve set timelines and goals.
- High-level computer skills in Microsoft Office programs.
