The Regional and Outer Metropolitan division is focused on understanding the particular needs of regional communities across NSW and delivering customer-centred integrated transport services and infrastructure.
The opportunity
Right now, we have a permanent full-time opportunity for a Truck Driver (HR Gang) to join us in the Maintenance & Delivery team based in Waratah (Hunter and Newcastle region), NSW. We are seeking those that reside within a 75 km distance from our Waratah depot.
You will be required to carry out certain duties including but not limited to:
- Competently operate trucks primarily designed for the haulage of fuel, bulk materials and fitted hydraulic tipping gear
- To tow any trailers that their vehicle is rated to tow
- Operate a HIAB or similar truck mounted crane
- General road working labourer duties when needed
- Perform the duties of a Road Worker Grade 3 when not operating the truck
About you
We are looking for an experienced Truck Driver who has the capability to work under limited supervision and has experience in maintaining a safe and injury free workplace for all employees while operating in a high speed, high traffic volume environment.
You are a practical thinker, quick learner and great communicator who enjoys being physically active performing outdoor manual tasks involving the use of hand tools and equipment within a team setting. You will also hold the following:
- White Card
- HR Driver Licence
- Experience and understanding of local road networks across the district
You're prepared to work outside regular working hours (day/night works when required), attend after hour callouts, and prepared to travel extensively throughout the state and work at locations away from the base station including camping away from home when needed.
Whilst not required, experience in operating plant (excavator, bobcat, padfoot/smooth drum roller and crane C4 to C6 or mobile crane) is advantageous but not essential.
Wage and Benefits
The wage for this position is Truck Driver HR Gang Grade ($1,376.60) per week plus superannuation.
