Who we’re looking for
The TSF Construction Services Lead will oversee the Construction Services team to ensure the efficient planning and operation of the Cadia Integrated Tailings Project (CITP).
Additionally, this role will assist in the fostering of effective relationships between the Construction Services team, internal functional teams, external contractors, and CITP stakeholders to ensure projects progress efficiently and within budget.
Please note, this role will be offered either as a full time 5/2 roster (Mon-Fri) to Orange NSW regional residents, or as a 12/9 roster for FIFO / DIDO workers and you will be required to work on site at Cadia Valley Operations (located 25km’s outside of Orange, NSW) for the duration of your rostered days on.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Manage six direct reports within the Construction Services team such that they are completing their works effectively and meeting customer requirements.
- Identify works that fall within the Construction Services area and ensure they are assigned and competed.
- Maintain relationships with a large range of stakeholders on site so there is a high awareness at Cadia of the role of the Construction Services team.
- Work together with the CITP management team to ensure future works and any associated roadblocks are identified in a timely manner and adequately planned for.
- Work with the Engineering and Design Managers to ensure designs are constructible and produced in a time frame appropriate for the planned construction.
- Proactively take part in design reviews and construction risk assessments to ensure that all designs are handed over to the Construction team in a fit for purpose state, ready to construct.
- Ensure all construction activity is undertaken in a safe, cost effective and efficient manner consistent with site and project safety requirements, Newmont global standards, and ANCOLD and GISTM guidelines.
- Visibly role model safe and operationally disciplined leadership through regular infield interactions including System Verifications, FCCC’s, VFSL’s and participation in the delivery of Newmont’s Cultural Safety Program, Newsafe and meaningful contribution to transparent reporting.
- Perform a key integration role between the construction team and other project stakeholders including subcontractors, engineering, procurement, QA and operations.
- Providing critical input into the project master schedule. Inclusive of regular updates against actual project construction performance to ensure budget and schedule forecasts and EV estimates remain accurate.
- Be a critical contributor to the planning process and undertake reviews of the weekly/monthly/3MRP plans. Contribute to longer term and more strategic tailings related construction/development discussions/forums.
- Communication and engagement with other functional teams within the project to ensure construction risks are pro-actively managed and construction milestones are met.
You will also possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Recognised bachelor’s degree in Civil / Engineering (or related discipline), with significant project engineering / project management experience in the delivery of large packages of work for mining projects
- 15+ years of experience in filling engineering roles on civil construction projects or within mining operations
- At least 5 years of "hands-on" experience in construction or production roles
- At least 3 years of experience in project management roles.
- Experience in Tailings Dam construction.
- Knowledge of industry guidelines such as GISTM, ANCOLD, ICOLD, and others is preferred.
