We are currently seeking a Tuckshop Assistant to operate our growing and busy Tuckshop alongside the Food Services Convenor.
The position requires the successful candidate to work specifically on Mondays and Tuesdays, term time, from 8 am to 2 pm. From time to time, additional hours may also be required for planned College events.
About the Role:
In this term-time position, ensure food is prepared in a timely and efficient manner while always maintaining the highest level of hygiene. This fast-paced position requires the ability to be consistent and display a high level of customer service. Primarily, this individual will be responsible for supporting the Food Services Convenor with daily food service. This is a hands-on role and requires the ability to work within a team.
All applicants must:
- Have a commitment to a church and the ethos of Christian education
- Be an Australian Citizen or
- Be a permanent resident or
- Have an appropriate permit to work in Australia
Work Requirements:
- Hold a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or be willing to undertake the same)
- Be willing to undertake a Barista certificate course
- Current Valid Blue Card
- Food preparation skills such as light cooking, assembly and presentation or background in hospitality/retail – an advantage but not essential
- An enthusiastic person with an engaging and positive outlook who displays outstanding customer service at all times and a passion for Smart Choices in food
- Pastorally demonstrate and model to students, staff and community members a Christian life approach
Key Duties:
- Tuckshop operations, including preparation of food orders
- Cash and eftpos handling.
- End-of-day reconciliations
- Liaising with staff, parents, and students regarding food orders
- Assist with receiving, checking and storing of deliveries
- Adhere to food hygiene requirements (including covering and storing food). Ensure general cleanliness of the Tuckshop, all equipment and food preparation areas are thoroughly cleaned
- General cleaning duties and weekly deep cleaning duties
- Operate coffee machine in absence of Food Services Convenor
- Assist with event catering preparation
